Karen Gilmore,
Vice President & General Counsel

In her legal role, Karen facilitates our acquisitions and ongoing operations as well as coordinates with outside counsel on behalf of our partners. In her non-legal role, she assists on matters such as governance, board meetings and business strategy.

Called to the BC Bar in 1985, Karen had a distinguished career with the national law firm of McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Vancouver. As a partner for over a decade, she founded and led the Technology & Intellectual Property Law Group, in addition to her extensive corporate commercial work. From 2003 until 2011, Karen was at the iconic Canadian publishing house Douglas & McIntyre as VP Operations, Corporate & Legal Affairs.

Karen has a BA in History from UBC, and earned her LLB at the University of Toronto. Karen is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and has completed several ICD courses.

Over the years Karen has served the community in various roles, including serving on the Executive of the BC Bar Association. She recently completed eight years on the Board of the YWCA of Metro Vancouver, where she served as Chair from 2011-2013. Currently, Karen is serving on the Board of YWCA Canada, and on the Grants Committee for the CKNW Orphan’s Fund. In recognition of her contribution to the community, Karen was awarded the BC Community Achievement Award in 2016.
